My youngest brother took me out for a birthday brunch in DC (Fall 2023) and after I uncharacteristically complained all morning anytime we saw art for sale – because it seemed very expensive for how mediocre it all was (in my professional, non-art-loving opinion) – he suggested that maybe I try my hand at painting… since I was CLEARLY all of a sudden passionate about art (haha). He said that he’d been wanting to have a painting done of his dog, Ruby, and that this would be the perfect time for me to give it a shot. So a little sarcastically, I gave it a shot.
And I surprised myself, and I loved the painting and the process so much that I painted the rest of the family’s dogs for Christmas. Which turned into the beginning of my entire art career.
Since those first 4 dogs, I’ve had the opportunity to paint lots of other dogs, and have more puppy portrait commissions on the way!
And these puppy portraits seem to evolve some with each one I paint. They become more detailed and more ME every time I paint another… I am loving where they’re headed.
