The Rotary Club of Carroll Creek planned this multi-club service trip to La Paz, Honduras to work with Honduras Compassion Partners on clean water and sanitation initiatives in the mountain villages around La Paz. This was another amazing example of Rotary clubs from around the world connecting to create relationships and do good work. Three Frederick rotary clubs were represented on this trip (Rotary Club of Carroll Creek, Key City Rotary, Rotary Club of Frederick), and Honduras Compassion Partners partners with the Rotary Club of La Paz, who we were able to get to know and work with on this trip.
My biggest takeaway from our experience with Honduras Compassion Partners was just how CONTENT the people were in the villages we were helping, with far less STUFF than we have. It’s easy to go up to those villages and think “man, these people need more reliable electricity. They need more sufficient clothing than this. They need a more advanced education system. These kids need more activities.” It’s easy for us to project our needs onto other people, whose lives we know nothing about.
